Your administrator/administration and rules are petty and do not uplift and celebrate the achievements of your students. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, including the adults who knew about this and did not speak up in advance. Rules are guidelines...not laws. Clearly this "clean shaven" rule was not enforced prior to graduation day, so why now?
This school's administration just taught the next set of students that grades don't matter. They taught students that what really matters is the superficial details and how you look. This is outrageous. Whatever board, or persons responsible for this decision should terminated. Congratulations to Andrew Jones. You should be proud of your accomplishments. Please don't let the ignorance and arrogance of these foolish administrators take away from your achievement.
Regardless of Jones not being able to walk across the stage for graduation, he still had the 4.0 GPA and will be the VALEDICTORIAN. Something the principal obviously had a problem with. Very unfair, shame on the whole educators for even letting crap like this take place. What is this suppose to do break his spirit? I hope it motivates even more!!!!!!!!!!!!! There will be a spot for to become the 2nd African American President of the United States. That's really what they are afraid of. I would encourage you to attend a College out of Louisiana. Use your scholarship and go to Alabama State or any college if PRO football is what's in your dreams. DO NOT ATTEND ANY COLLEGE IN LOUISIANA, they are all the same here, colleges here are worst, they will steal your money, kill your dreams and then toss you to the side like trash....Get out of Louisiana, go ANYWHERE else.....As for this school, I wouldn't let my dog go here.
This school is a horrible place to send your children . My teenage daughter was sexually assaulted several times and after all the meetings with the principal there were only 2 choices that was given to us , keep my kids at home or send them to school. So we going to keep them home for safety. By law, our children have the right to a free and safe education. This school will not keep them safe . 53 students this year have done the same . So in closing , I will continue the fight to help parents that can't hone school, and and if any other parents would like to join me please contact me . Department of education is where we are going to start so please email them to show your concern also .
How dare you keep a stellar student from walking across the stage at graduation over facial hair? Like really I swear K-12 educators are the stupidest people on the planet. Who was this student hurting with his goatee? What did it matter. 4.0 GPA and he couldn't march over facial hair? He's a young man with a bright future and you disrespected everything that he worked so hard for. Why do you want so much control over what student's do with their own bodies? His facial hair was and is none of your business. I hope that whoever did this is thoroughly reprimanded.
